Projects

I tend to be involved in a number of projects at any given time: both technical and non-technical alike. Below is a list of recent undertakings that I have been pursuing.

Apptini

This is a startup company that my friend Greg and I are trying to get off the ground. Apptini aims to give users access to any application from any web-enabled device. The idea is to host applications on our servers and provide a reliable and responsive web interface for these applications. Since we use standard web technologies, our service is potentially accessible from any web browser: including emerging and existing mobile devices.

UbiFriends

This project started out as a research project for a ubiquitous computing class at UIUC. Our class developed a system capable of using an iPod Touch to track a user's location throughout the Computer Science building on campus. Using this information, two friends and I developed a method of correlating users' aggregate location data into friend suggestions on facebook. The basic insight is that users who are in the same places at the same times likely know each other and could benefit from being connected in a social network.

Wosaic

This is an open source project that my friend Scott and I started. Wosaic takes a picture of your choosing and uses a combination of Flickr, your saved pictures, and facebook pictures to construct a mosaic our of your source image. It started out as a project for a class, and evolved into an open source Java project.
